What Do You Do When Someone Claims to Be You to Pick Up Chicks?

Meet CJ Fortuna – The actor who had to prove he really was Crackers the Clown.

Do you remember this commercial?

One night CJ Fortuna was having a beer at a pub when he overheard a guy trying to impress some women.

“Yeah, I was Crackers the Clown in that Yellow Pages ad,” the guy bragged.

CJ walked over, pulled out his phone, and showed them a photo of himself in full clown make-up with the fake nose and wig.

“No,” said CJ. “I was Crackers the Clown.”

The room went silent. The guy left.

Like every working actor, CJ had a problem: thirty years of credits scattered across the internet with no single place to show them all.

And his problem was so bad that someone else could walk into a pub and claim his work as their own.

That’s what happens when your career is memorable enough that people remember it, but scattered enough that nobody can prove who actually did it.

So CJ had to put it all together.

Thirty Years of Work. No Single Place to Show It All.

CJ Fortuna has been working in Australian comedy and television since 1993.

Over 30 years, he’s racked up some serious credits:

Guest spots on Blue Heelers, Stingers, and Neighbours. Writing and acting on Hamish & Andy. Recurring roles on Kinne and You’re Skitting Me (39 episodes). Stand-up gigs from Melbourne to London, Edinburgh, and Amsterdam – close to a thousand performances. Commercials that became part of Australian pop culture: Yellow Pages, Sportsbet, Carlton Mid. Ten solo shows at the Melbourne Comedy Festival. A Moosehead Award-winning show with his comedy band Emotional People. Feature films, short films, web series, podcasts, and professional theatre.

Here’s CJ’s showreel:

It’s an impressive body of work.

But where is it all?

The Yellow Pages “Crackers the Clown” commercial that people still quote? Buried on some random YouTube channel.

The Sportsbet “Backyard Cricket Arguments” ads that ran every summer? On a different channel.

His Melbourne Comedy Festival shows from 1998 to 2018? Gone. Just old flyers if you kept them.

The Emotional People band that won the Moosehead Award? A few tracks on CDs.

Stand-up clips from a thousand gigs? Spread across 20+ different venue pages and comedy club channels.

Thirty years of work. Scattered across fifty different websites. No single place to see it all.

Until now.

Do You Remember These Ads?

If you grew up in Australia in the late 90s and 2000s, you’ve seen CJ’s work. You just might not know it was him.

The Yellow Pages “Crackers the Clown” commercial was just one of the hilariously funny ads you might recognise him from. Here are some more of the commercials he has done:

But commercials were just some of his work. He also appeared in some of Australia’s biggest shows – Blue Heelers, Stingers, Neighbours. In Stingers alone, he appeared twice – first as Sonic the ecstasy dealer in 1999, then as an informant in 2003-2004. For some mysterious reason, the informant character changed names between episodes (started as Rex Carter, ended as Henry). Nobody can explain why.

On CJ’s Milestones Page, you can see it all.

The Heckler: A Starring Role in a Classic Aussie Comedy

In 2014, CJ starred in The Heckler, an Australian comedy film where he played Mike, the title role.

It’s a film about a stand-up comedian dealing with hecklers – perfect casting for someone who’s done a thousand stand-up gigs and knows exactly what it’s like to handle a drunk audience member yelling from the back.

The film played festivals. Won awards. You can watch it on Tubi. You can rent it on Apple TV. You can buy it on DVD on eBay. It’s on IMDb.

But a decade later, it’s buried under streaming platform algorithms.

That’s the problem with film work. The movie exists. The performance is there. But without a way to point people directly to it, it might as well not exist.

On CJ’s Milestones Page: the trailer is right there, embedded and ready to watch. Links go straight to Tubi and Apple TV. One click and you’re watching.

If you’ve done film work – features, shorts, student films – you know this. The film exists somewhere on some platform, but when someone asks “what have you done?” you’re scrambling to remember which streaming service has it.

Watch The Heckler:

Feature Films and Shorts, Scattered Everywhere

The Heckler isn’t CJ’s only film work.

He’s appeared in multiple feature films and short films, including award-winners and festival selections.

Each film ended up on a different platform. Apple TV. Tubi. DVD-only releases. Vimeo. Some were just on VHS tapes in his cupboard.

On CJ’s Milestones Page, every film is there. Trailers embedded. Direct links to where you can watch them. Even the short films that only exist because someone uploaded them to Vimeo years ago.

To take just one example, here is Paper Champions, in which he played Rodney:

If you’ve done film work, you know how this goes. The film premieres, gets some buzz, then vanishes into the streaming void. Years later, someone asks for your reel and you can’t remember which platform has which film.

The Awards Almost Nobody Knows About

As a working actor for thirty years, you rack up some genuinely impressive credits. In film, TV, theatre, comedy, music, podcasts, and all sorts of other mediums.

But where do you put them? Facebook, Instagram? Some credits go on IMDb, but only the big ones. And unless you are world famous, don’t even think about getting your own Wikipedia page. So your credits go nowhere. And they just disappear.

The Moosehead Award (2000)

CJ’s comedy band Emotional People won the Moosehead Award at the 2000 Melbourne Comedy Festival for their show Rockothello.

For context: the Moosehead Award is one of the most prestigious comedy awards in Australia. It’s the same award that helped launch Flight of the Conchords. Hannah Gadsby won it. Tim Minchin won it. Sammy J won it. It’s a big deal.

Winning it should have been career-changing. But the band eventually stopped performing regularly, the recordings scattered, and now try Googling “CJ Fortuna Moosehead Award.” You’ll find almost nothing.

Comedy Channel Short Film Festival Winner (2006)

CJ starred in Jonathan Livingston C.E.O., which won first place at the Comedy Channel Short Film Festival in 2006.

A national short film competition. First prize. The film aired on The Comedy Channel.

Then it vanished. Unless you have CJ’s Milestones Page link, you’re not finding it.

Best Actor – Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia (2017)

In 2017, CJ won Best Actor in the International Competition at Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia for the short film Big City.

An international film festival. Best Actor award. Almost nobody knows about it.

Where would he even mention it without sounding like he’s making it up?

Ten Melbourne Comedy Festival Solo Shows

From 1998 to 2018, CJ performed in multiple Melbourne Comedy Festival solo shows.

Audiences packed the rooms. But once the shows happened, all evidence of them vanished.

On CJ’s Milestones Page, it’s all documented: the original guidebook entries, the posters, the reviews, the photos. Finally, there’s a permanent record.

If you’ve performed at festivals or won awards, you know this. Without proof that’s easy to access, it’s just something you claim happened.

Emotional People: The Moosehead-Winning Band Nobody Can Find

In 1990, CJ formed a comedy rock band called Emotional People with Rick Chandler.

They weren’t a weekend pub band. They performed on and off for over two decades. Won the Moosehead Award in 2000. Recorded two albums: Sex on a Rocketship (1998) and Emotional People (1999). Played festivals, packed pubs, and became a cult favorite in the Melbourne comedy scene.

Try finding their music online today.

You’ll find a few scattered tracks if you’re persistent. Maybe a live video on YouTube with 200 views. But there’s no complete record of what they sounded like, what they looked like, or what made them Moosehead Award winners.

On CJ’s Milestones Page:

  • Listen to tracks from both albums
  • See photos from their shows
  • Read about the Moosehead Award win (with proof)
  • Watch performance footage
  • View festival programs and flyers

All in one place. Twenty years of band history, finally organized.

If you’ve been in a band – especially one that broke up – you know this. The recordings ended up on old cassettes or CDs. The photos are in someone’s garage. The videos are on dead MySpace pages. The proof that you did this thing just disappeared.

The Theatre Production That Disappeared

In 2017, CJ acted alongside Christie Whelan Browne in the Melbourne Theatre Company production of Born Yesterday at Southbank Theatre.

Christie Whelan Browne – you’ve seen her in Wicked and Muriel’s Wedding the Musical. She’s won a Helpmann Award. She’s a star in Australian theatre.

CJ played Eddie Brock opposite her in a professional MTC production.

The show ran from January to February 2017, then closed. And like every theatre production, the proof disappeared. Programs ended up in drawers. Reviews got buried in newspaper archives. Production photos went into MTC’s files.

Unless you saw the show or kept the program, good luck proving it happened.

On CJ’s Milestones Page:

  • The full theatre program is there, viewable
  • Production photos
  • Direct link to the MTC website
  • Media release
  • Cast list showing him working alongside Christie Whelan Browne

The show may be over, but the proof remains.

If you’ve done theatre – professional, amateur, student – you know this. The show closes, the set gets struck, programs get thrown away. Suddenly you’re trying to prove you worked with real professionals with nothing to show except your word.

A Thousand Stand-Up Gigs. Where Are the Clips?

CJ did his first stand-up gig in 1993 at the Star & Garter Hotel in Melbourne.

Since then, he’s performed close to a thousand gigs.

Melbourne: Comics Lounge, Melbourne Comedy Club, every pub that runs a comedy night.

Interstate: Sit-Down Comedy Club in Brisbane, Rhino Room in Adelaide.

Internationally: Comedy clubs in London, Edinburgh, Amsterdam’s Comedy CafΓ©.

A thousand gigs over thirty years. That’s a serious stand-up career.

Where are the clips?

Scattered everywhere. Some are on the Comics Lounge YouTube channel. Others are on individual venue Facebook pages. A few are on his own channel. Some were never recorded. Others are lost on hard drives nobody can find.

On CJ’s Milestones Page, you can watch clips from the 1990s to today, see posters from international gigs, view photos from performances, and access his current stand-up reel.

It’s not footage from every gig – that would be impossible. But it’s proof of what he’s done. And if you’re a booker looking to hire him, it shows exactly what he can do.

If you do stand-up, you know this. You’ve done hundreds of gigs, maybe more. Where are the clips? Fifteen different venue pages. Facebook videos with twelve views. Hard drives you can’t find. Phones you don’t have anymore.

You Have Work Too

Maybe you haven’t done a thousand stand-up gigs or won a Moosehead Award.

But you’ve done things that matter.

That theatre production where you worked alongside real professionals. The program’s in a drawer somewhere.

That commercial that aired during prime time. Now it’s buried somewhere on YouTube.

That comedy festival show you’re genuinely proud of. The flyer got thrown away.

That band that was actually good. The recordings are on a CD in your parents’ garage.

That short film that won awards. It’s on Vimeo with forty-seven views.

Those comedy sketches that killed. Uploaded to random YouTube channels you don’t control.

Your work deserves better than to vanish when the show closes.

Milestones Page is where you organize it all:

  • Videos, photos, audio clips
  • Theatre programs and show posters
  • Reviews and press coverage
  • Links to streaming platforms, shops, venues
  • Awards, festivals, collaborations

One professional link. Your entire career. Forever.

What Makes Milestones Page Different?

A traditional resume just lists credits:

Actor – Blue Heelers, Stingers, Neighbours
Comedian – Melbourne Comedy Festival
Singer – Emotional People
Commercial work – Yellow Pages

Milestones Page shows the actual proof.

Instead of “Comedian – Melbourne Comedy Festival,” CJ’s page shows:

  • All 10+ festival shows (1998-2018)
  • Original guidebook entries with show descriptions
  • Posters and flyers from each show
  • Reviews and press coverage
  • Photos from performances
  • The Moosehead Award win with documentation

Instead of “Commercial work,” his page shows:

  • Every commercial he’s done
  • Direct embedded videos ready to watch
  • Links to brand websites and agencies
  • The stories behind each one
  • Including the full Crackers the Clown ad

Each milestone isn’t just a line on a resume. It’s proof you can show people.

One Link Shows Everything

When someone asks CJ “What have you done?” he doesn’t fumble through explanations or send them to five different websites.

He sends them one link.

  • The Emotional People albums you can actually listen to
  • Stand-up clips from thirty years of performances

Your Career Deserves Better

Think about your best work.

The show that sold out. The commercial everyone saw. The film that won awards. The performance you’re genuinely proud of.

Where is it right now?

Buried in old Facebook posts? On ten random YouTube channels you don’t control? Mentioned vaguely on LinkedIn? Living only in your memory? On a VHS tape in the back of a cupboard?

You’ve done impressive work. But if nobody can find it, it might as well not exist.

You shouldn’t have to explain your career across five different platforms. You shouldn’t lose your best credits because there’s nowhere to organize them properly. Your scattered work makes it look like you’ve done less than you actually have.

Document it all. Organize it properly. Show the proof.

Just like CJ.

FAQ

“Why not just build my own website?”
You could. That’ll cost $500-$2,000 and take 20+ hours to build and maintain. Or you could spend $67 and fifteen minutes on Milestones Page.

“My career isn’t as long as CJ’s…”
Most people’s aren’t. But you’ve still done things worth documenting. That student film. That festival spot. That commercial. That band. Every credit matters.

“What if I’m not tech-savvy?”
If you can post on social media, you can use Milestones Page. It’s designed for performers, not developers.

“Some of my work isn’t ‘professional’…”
CJ’s Milestones Page includes everything from professional MTC theatre to comedy sketches. If it’s part of your story, it belongs on your page.

“I don’t have proof of everything…”
That’s fine. CJ couldn’t find videos of half his Melbourne Comedy Festival shows. You document what you can and tell the story of the rest.

“What if my career keeps growing?”
Perfect. Add new milestones whenever you want. No extra cost. Ever.
